Leeds United have carefully planned their summer transfer window, and their main targets have been identified.

Daniel Farke has multiple key areas that he wishes to improve this summer, with the forward line and midfield of particular interest.

Paraag Marathe has already explained that it will take a strategic approach to maximise the Whites' chances of another successful transfer window, with another two-year wait needed before the club can operate more freely in the market.

However, Leeds have already made their move on some targets, most recently lodging a £20million bid to try and sign Southampton midfielder Shea Charles.

Fulham's Harry Wilson remains of interest, as he and Borussia Dortmund's Julian Brandt are two possible free agents who could come to Elland Road for free once their respective deals expire at the end of June.

But Leeds appear to only be in their first of two phases that will be rolled out for incoming transfers this summer.

Leeds currently in 'intense' transfer phase, second mission comes after World Cup

Leeds are expected to make multiple new additions to Farke's squad this summer, though how much they are willing to spend remains to be seen.

Departures are also needed to raise funds for certain targets, as Joel Piroe, Wilfried Gnonto, Pascal Struijk and more all have an uncertain future in LS11.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Elland Road managing director, Robbie Evans, addressed Whites supporters at a Premier League fixtures launch event last week, explaining plans for this summer.

Evans suggested that the World Cup has forced Leeds to take the decision to split their business up into two separate periods, with one "intense" phase already underway.

The Elland Road figure then revealed the club are then set for a second period of activity when the World Cup ends on 19 July, with the aim of Premier League consolidation in mind.

Given Leeds are yet to make a signing, and the natural nature of transfer windows, it's likely that the Whites will make plenty of additions in the second phase, following the conclusion of the World Cup.

World Cup targets to settle Leeds transfer interest

Evans also admitted at the fan event that Leeds do hold an interest in multiple players who are currently participating at the World Cup in North America.

It's possible that the Whites are using the tournament for extra data on their listed targets to make a final judgment before deciding which players to prioritise.

Some players Leeds have been linked with that are at this year's World Cup include Algeria's Mohamed Amoura, Switzerland's Nico Elvedi and Zion Suzuki of Japan.

There will be more mystery targets that Leeds will be tracking closely.
