49ers may reverse Charlie Cresswell exit decision after Joe Rodon transfer update at Leeds United
The summer transfer window is officially open and while Leeds United have been linked with several players already, nothing concrete has happened yet at Elland Road.
Speculation has been rife around the likes of Archie Gray and Crysencio Summerville following the disappointing end to the season, but so far there have been no major outgoings from Daniel Farke’s squad.
Perhaps the biggest blow the Whites have suffered so far is the fact that Joe Rodon’s loan spell in Yorkshire has come to an end and he has returned to Tottenham ahead of pre-season.
Leeds still remain keen on securing the Welsh international’s services permanently, but reports suggest that may have become more complicated after several Premier League sides joined the race for his services [Football London, 16 June].
The newly promoted trio of Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton are all interested in signing the centre-back this summer after Spurs made the decision to allow him to depart North London.
Will Leeds United sign Joe Rodon from Tottenham in the summer transfer window?
Rodon was a crucial part of Farke’s backline last season and without him, Leeds United would have likely been nowhere near the Championship’s automatic promotion places.
If they don’t secure his signature again next season, they are going to need some defensive reinforcements and that could potentially open the door to Charlie Cresswell after a tough year for the young centre-back.
The 21-year-old only made five league appearances last season, only one of which saw him named in Leeds’ starting XI and now reports suggest he will be on his way out of Elland Road this summer [Alan Nixon, 9 June].

Farke’s side are understood to be looking for a fee of around £3million for the defender amid interest from France and Germany, but this latest update surrounding Rodon could see them reverse their decision.
If the 49ers and their manager aren’t able to bring Rdon back to Elland Road, they could well decide to keep Cresswell this summer as an extra defensive option, especially as Liam Cooper continues to be linked with a move away.
