Leeds United will need to battle against Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton for Joe Rodon's signature this summer, according to Football.London.

The online source reported on Sunday (16 June) that the trio of clubs, who all pipped the Whites to Premier League promotion this season, are interested in the Tottenham centre-back following his loan at Elland Road.

Leeds are still in the mix to sign the 26-year-old Welshman, it is claimed, but they are at a disadvantage after being condemned to a second season in the Championship.

However, Rodon has previously hinted that he is keen on a return to Leeds.

Could Leeds United still sign Joe Rodon this summer?

Fans at Elland Road will certainly be hoping that Leeds can strike a deal with Tottenham for their sought-after defender this summer, having just triggered a one-year extension on his Spurs contract.

It has been made clear that the defender is not in Ange Postecoglou's plans ahead of the 2024/25 campaign and that the contract extension is only to secure the player's value.

With Leeds, on the other hand, he has already become a much-loved figure amongst the fans and the manager, having made 50 appearances during his loan spell.

Elland Road is set to experience a summer of change due to missing out on promotion, and with the need to sell players to pay off unpaid transfer fees still, many big-name players could exit.

However, Rodon is one name that Leeds will want returning to the club this summer, having formed a sensational partnership with Ethan Ampadu in defence, at club and international level, which kept Pascal Struijk, when fit, and Liam Cooper out of the starting XI.

Any deal will, of course, not come cheap, and with heavy interest from Premier League teams, the club will need to hope Rodon's stance on the situation comes into play for Spurs, having expressed his desire to return.
