Leeds United manager Daniel Farke knows what it's like to face calls for the sack.

Farke and his team are currently the toast of the city, with the Whites sitting seventh in the Premier League.

The 49-year-old arrived at Elland Road in the summer of 2023, with his only previous job in English football being with Norwich City.

He'd struggled at Borussia Monchengladbach prior to taking the Leeds job, and there was some scepticism over his appointment.

Leeds are a club that always expects to win, whilst the fans demand their side to be on the front foot and taking games to the opposition.

Farke's Whites team didn't always do that, and like Manchester United boss Michael Carrick, he did face serious calls for the axe.

What is the latest on Michael Carrick sack talk at Man United?

Some manager's roles are known as 'impossible jobs', either because of how difficult it is to win there, or because of the pressure and scrutiny you face.

Famously, the England men's national team position is the standard-bearer for this phrase, but it can apply to some club sides too.

Right now, the Manchester United job certainly feels like an impossible one to take up, as numerous top-class coaches have been and gone in recent years.

Whether or not Carrick is one of those remains to be seen, but he is under huge pressure, and United's 4-1 Champions League loss to Como threatened to be his demise.

However, as detailed via The Mirror, the 45-year-old will at least be given the Red Devils' home game against Bournemouth on Sunday to save his skin.

So, with his back up against the Old Trafford wall, Carrick may just be tempted to dial Farke's number for some words of advice.

Farke was even putting up with Leeds sack talk after promotion

Leeds may play an exciting brand of direct, fast football now with wing-backs careering down the flanks under Farke, but this wasn't always the case.

Back when he first arrived in West Yorkshire in 2023, the German tried to install a slow build-up, possession-monopolising brand of football at Elland Road.

Many Leeds fans weren't fans of it at all, and after missing out on promotion in his first season in charge, some had seen enough.

Farke stuck by his tactical guns the following year, and it saw the Whites win the Championship as centurions, which you would think made him immune from sack talk.

It didn't, with outlets such as The Atheltic making the case for sacking Farke a matter of days after winning the league at Plymouth Argyle.

Even last season in the midst of the relegation battle, Farke was subject to sack speculation, but had Leeds done so, they may not be on the trajectory they're on now.

Carrick would no doubt learn a lot just by conversing with Farke, as he's a shining example of how to handle constant sack talk, fight through it and take his team to the next level.
