Conor Coady reacts to Daniel Farke update at Leeds United - 'It's huge, huge'

Daniel Farke has played as big a part as anyone in Leeds United's recent success story.

After guiding the Whites back to the Premier League at the second attempt, the German kept them there last season.

Leeds stayed up relatively safe in the end, all things considered, and are not expected to be in a relegation fight this time around.

That is credit to Farke and the work he continues to do at Elland Road, helped by the backing of the 49ers Enterprises.

A new update emerged on Farke's own future in West Yorkshire earlier this week.

And former Liverpool defender Conor Coady believes that is a massive boost for everyone connected to Leeds.

What's the latest on Daniel Farke's Leeds future?

Farke has been at Leeds for a little over three years now.

The 49-year-old's existing contract is due to expire at the end of the current campaign.

However, it has been reported this week that Farke is set to sign a new contract with Leeds.

Farke kept quiet on talk of a new Leeds deal after Wednesday's 6-3 defeat to Chelsea in the Carabao Cup.

But when Coady was told about that news, he did not hold back in how big it is for the Whites.

"It's huge, huge," Coady said live on Sky Sports Main Event. "He's not going to give anything away [in interviews] until something's sorted.

"So I understand his answer, but it's huge for Leeds because of the job he's done.

"He's built into Leeds and changes what he wanted to do last year when it came to going to a back five.

"Where he's built the club up now is fully down to him, so it's important they tie him down and help him build the squad."

Farke is definitely deserving of the new deal and the hope now is that Leeds continue to push on under the former Norwich City boss.

How does Farke's record compare with other Leeds managers?

Farke has managed 153 Leeds games in all competitions, winning 76 of those, drawing 44 and losing 33 for a 49.7 per cent win rate.

That places him very high on the list of all-time best records among Leeds managers down the years.

Gary McAllister (50 per cent) is one of two names above him among those to have been in charge for more than a couple of months.

Don Revie is of course at the top of the list with a 53.31 per cent win rate, though Farke is not a long way off that.

Twelve months on from the sack looking inevitable, Farke deserves nothing but praise for the way in which he has turned things around.
