Daniel Farke agrees new Leeds contract in principle as announcement update shared

Daniel Farke has reportedly agreed a new contract at Leeds United.

The 49-year-old's existing deal is due to expire at the end of this season, having signed a four-year contract back in 2023 when he was appointed by the Yorkshire giants.

In his time in charge, Farke has not only won promotion back to the Premier League, but managed to keep Leeds in the top flight for consecutive seasons.

Many expect the Whites to easily avoid the drop again this term as they bid to secure a third term in the Premier League under the German boss.

Things have started well, too, with Leeds going unbeaten in their first three games against Nottingham Forest, Brentford and Brighton.

Next up are back-to-back home games against Newcastle and Crystal Palace before an extended international, in which Farke is expected to pen new terms at Elland Road.

What's the latest on Daniel Farke's Leeds contract?

According to The Square Ball podcast host Dan Moylan, the deal is all but done for Farke to sign a new contract.

"Farke's contract: they're dancing arond this being signed off," said Moylan on The Square Ball podcast.

"A new deal has been agreed in principle, apparently, with some final details being worked through.

"He's got until the summer, so it seems like there's no massive urgency. He keep kicking the can a little down the road with the international break coming in a couple of weeks."

When will it be announced?

With two home games on the horizon, there's every chance that Farke's new deal could be announced before one of them.

It would give the home crowd the chance to get behind their manager in the flesh and show their support for him and his new deal.

There's also the chance that the contract has been put on the back-burner for now, with the view to coming back to it during the international break.

After Leeds play Palace on 20 September, they won't play again until they travel to Arsenal on 10 October.

There's an extended international window this month in order to not have one in October.

It's a good time to sort out any final details if anything else crops up but ultimately, it's a case of when and not if Farke's new deal is announced by Leeds.
