Leeds United squandered a glorious chance to pick up the rarest of wins against Arsenal over the weekend.

James Justin's goal early in the second period at Emirates Stadium had Leeds fans dreaming of a first win in this fixture since 2003.

However, it was not to be as Riccardo Calafiori equalised in the 62nd minute and Bruno Guimaraes netted the winner eight minutes later.

That was Leeds' first Premier League loss of the season in their sixth match.

Daniel Farke's side can still be more than happy with their return of nine points, which leaves them seventh in the table.

But what did the defeat at Emirates Stadium mean for Leeds' updated global power ranking?

Where do Leeds rank among world's best teams?

The loss in North London was more difficult to take than it should have been given how well Leeds performed.

A point was at the very least there for the taking, though there is of course no shame in losing to Arsenal.

After all, as per Opta Analyst's global power rankings, they are the best team in the world right now.

Leeds were 18th on the list after the last round of fixtures, and that is exactly where they find themselves again despite losing to Arsenal.

Benfica remain one place above Leeds on the list, while Sporting Lisbon are now the team directly below the Whites after climbing two places.

Where are Leeds now predicted to finish 2026-27 Premier League season?

Leeds are still in the hunt for a European spot as things stand ahead of hosting Manchester United and then travelling to Sunderland.

But what does Opta Analyst's supercomputer reckon about their chances of staying in the top half?

Well, the updated standings on 12 October now has Leeds' expected final position as 11th place.

There is so little between Leeds in 11th, Aston Villa in 10th and Manchester United in ninth that one extra point could make all the difference.

For now, Farke's men need to get back to winning ways, starting with all three points against fierce rivals Manchester United next weekend.
