Tarik Muharemovic has had an excellent start to life as a Leeds United player.

The Bosnian arrived at Elland Road with the difficult task of replacing a mainstay in the squad such as Pascal Struijk.

The former Sassuolo man joined for a £34.1million fee, which is by no means an insignificant amount.

However, he has certainly made light work of living up to his price tag, quickly becoming an important cog in the LS11 machine.

Muharemovic has featured in all of Leeds' games so far this season, playing maximum minutes in each of those six fixtures.

And against Newcastle on Monday night, he continued to highlight why Leeds forked so much money out to sign him, with Troy Deeney admitting his surprise.

What has Troy Deeney said about Tarik Muharemovic at Leeds?

Muharemovic is quickly become one of Leeds' top signings of the last few years, and he is beginning to get praise from outside Elland Road.

The Whites are still unbeaten in the Premier League this season, securing eight points from a possible 12 so far.

The 4-1 win against Newcastle was certainly the icing on the cake, with Deeney pinpointing the performance of Muharemovic.

As shared by BBC Sport, Deeney has delivered his team of the week selections following Leeds' game against Newcastle.

Defender Muharemovic has been selected by the former Premier League striker, with Deeney baffled on how Leeds discovered him.

He stated: "What a beast he is. I don't know where Leeds found him but he heads it, kicks it, runs through people. Didn't get the clean sheet against Newcastle but deserved it."

While he did not get the clean sheet that as a defender he would have wanted, the Bosnian international did manage to end the game with an assist.

With the player he set up also earning praise from the BBC pundit.

Deeney pinpoints change Dominic Calvert-Lewin has made at Leeds

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has changed the perception about him at Leeds United.

The English striker was frequently known to be an injury-prone forward who could not be trusted as a reliable option.

However, at Elland Road, the opposite has been true.

Deeney was impressed with Calvert-Lewin against Newcastle, describing his performance as "excellent."

But he also noted that change in the forward stating that he has "changed the mentality for sticking in there."

And has also selected him in his team of the week.

After performing well and scoring against the Geordies, the 29-year-old will now be hoping it was enough to secure an international call-up by Thomas Tuchel.

Tuchel is set to name his England squad later this week, with Calvert-Lewin certainly passing the final audition before then with flying colours.
