Tarik Muharemovic slammed over 'unacceptable behaviour' in Leeds draw vs Crystal Palace

Published on

Tarik Muharemovic was fortunate to escape a caution for his actions in Leeds United's clash with Crystal Palace.

That is according to former PGMOL chief Keith Hackett, who shared his views exclusively to MOT Leeds News.

Muharemovic played the full 90 minutes for Leeds in Sunday's contest at Elland Road.

The Whites were unable to find a way past Palace in a rather boring goalless draw.

Tyrick Mitchell had a goal ruled out for Palace, but the game was otherwise controversy-free.

Or at least we thought, before footage of Muharemovic emerged from the first half of the match.

Tarik Muharemovic accused of trying to con officials

Muharemovic had the most shots of any Leeds player against Palace, which is a tad concerning.

It was a rare Elland Road off-day for Dominic Calvert-Lewin and his attacking teammates.

Muharemovic was clearly desperate to make a difference, but he has been accused of going too far with a piece of play-acting.

The moment in question happened when Quinten Timber reached out with his arm and brushed Muharemovic's face.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international chucked himself to the floor, seemingly in an attempt to get his opponent sent off.

Like rookie referee Adam Herczeg, however, Hackett is having none of it as he said: "This is a poor and frankly unacceptable behaviour by Muharemovic.

"He should have received a yellow card for attempting to deceive the referee by an act of simulation. Sadly, VAR is unable to intervene in this one."

Leeds vs Crystal Palace stands out for wrong reason

Leeds have now had four goalless draws in the Premier League this calendar year.

Two of those have come against Palace, with the sides also sharing the spoils at Selhurst Park in March.

That makes this the only Premier League fixture to have had multiple goalless draws in 2026.

Thankfully, the two sides do not meet again until right at the end of May.
