Premier League issue statement after Leeds United vs Crystal Palace controversy
The Premier League have released an official statement regarding Tyrick Mitchell's disallowed goal against Leeds United on Sunday.
The Whites hosted Crystal Palace in an important Premier League game for both sides.
Leeds came into the game with the potential of going third in the division with a win, while reports suggested that Pierre Sage could face the sack with defeat for Palace.
Daniel Farke's side thought they had conceded the first goal of the contest against Crystal Palace early into the second half when Mitchell tapped home from close range.
Referee Adam Herczeg initially gave the goal, but after a VAR check, the goal was overturned, and the game ended 0-0.
The Premier League have now released an official statement to clear up the incident at Elland Road.

Leeds have had their fair share of bad luck since returning to the Premier League, and will have been glad to see the goal overturned.
Dachai Kamada slipped a ball through for Anan Khalaili, who aimed a cross into Leeds' box for Jorgen Strand Larsen.
Jayden Bogle intercepted the cross with a brilliant block, but the ball only fell to Mitchell to put past James Trafford.
The Premier League have now released an official statement on their X account about why the goal was not given after review from VAR.
The statement read: "VAR checked the referee's call of goal - and determined that Khalaili was in an offside position in the build-up and recommended that the goal was disallowed."
Leeds came close to winning the game, and they would have had VAR to thank, had they been able to bury their own chances.
But the draw leaves the Whites in fifth place with a three-week break ahead for the players and staff to recover and reset ahead of another busy schedule of games.
What Leeds learned vs Crystal Palace
Only Leeds' 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest saw the Whites tally less xG than they did against Crystal Palace.
Farke understandably went with the same team that thrashed Newcastle last time out, but it was his reaction to the game itself which frustrated.
Crystal Palace clearly came into the game with a rigid game plan that could have been defeated by introducing Jean-Matteo Bahoya earlier, rather than with just one minute left in the game.
Not only that, but not everyone will agree with how Ao Tanaka and Jayden Bogle were both the first two players taken off the pitch.
Thankfully, Leeds now have some time to work on their weaknesses, but in the context of things, a draw should be viewed as a point gained, not two lost.
