Leeds player ratings vs Nottingham Forest: James Trafford shines but fellow new arrival disappoints
Leeds United's Premier League season kicked off with a 1-0 win against Nottingham Forest.
The Whites left it late with an excellent free-kick from Anton Stach hitting the back of the net in the 88th minute.
Supporters would have been excited to see all of their new signings in action, and Daniel Farke opted to utilise three out of the four new additions.
Unfortunately, there was no space for Nico Elvedi to come into the team, which makes sense consider he has had less time with his teammates than the rest.
Of course, James Trafford and Harry Wilson will have been the key players many had an eye on.
And the two actually had contrasting debuts in the Premier League for Leeds.
Harry Wilson not at the races for Leeds United
Wilson may be a victim of his own expectations as his arrival was a significant coup for the Whites.
However, against Nottingham Forest, nothing was clicking for the Welsh international in what was a lacklustre debut.
Additionally, Wilson denied Leeds an easy tap in with him remaining offside for almost the entirety of a promising attacking move.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin was lurking to put the ball into the net, but Wilson got ahead of him to score.
And the goal was ultimately ruled offside.
It felt like an amatuerish moment, as the forward really should have known better to keep an eye on his own movements.
Wilson has proven to have quality in the Premier League, and hopefully this was just a rare off-day in what should be many top performances in his Leeds career.
James Trafford proves to be worth every penny for Leeds
James Trafford had a busy evening in goal for Leeds United, where he was forced into making a number of saves.
However, the Englishman met each and everyone of those with confidence between the sticks.
Whenever he had the ball at his feet, there were no nerves with him at all.
Additionally, you felt like it would take something special from Nottingham Forest to score past the Leeds goalkeeper.
And his efforts between the sticks were then rewarded with Stach netting an excellent free-kick.
An excellent start to the Englishman's time for the LS11 outfit.
