Daniel Farke comments questioned as Leeds United boss heading only one way with 49ers
Daniel Farke’s recent Leeds United comments have been questioned by Simon Jordan.
Ahead of the recent 1-0 win against Brighton, the Farke came out with some rather bullish comments.
Speaking with candour rarely heard from Farke, the German began to outline plans for the future at Elland Road, putting pressure on the hierarchy to deliver over the transfer window.
It has been a fantastic year for Leeds, who secured their spot in the top flight with three games to spare, after a sensational run of form following the international break.
Despite this, outspoken pundit Jordan is of the belief that Farke does not have enough credit in the bank to be making such comments – and he may just be right.

Simon Jordan questions Daniel Farke after bullish Leeds press conference
After a difficult start to the season, Farke and his side would turn things around over the festive period.
Since then, they have continued to shift through the gears – seeing their spot in the division sealed with three games to go.
| Leeds this season | In Premier League |
| Games | 37 |
| Wins | 11 |
| Draws | 14 |
| Losses | 12 |
| Points | 47 |
With his bullish comments ahead of the Brighton clash, it cannot be argued that Farke is not correct with his words, given how the last Premier League chance was wasted in 2023 – though the public manner of his opinion can come into question.
Offering his thoughts on the matter, former Crystal Palace owner Jordan took the side of the 49ers group in charge of Leeds when discussing the matter on talkSPORT on Tuesday morning.
“It’s an interesting one, because he kept his counsel at the beginning of the season, a lot of people were saying this isn’t a manager that can keep you in the division,” said Jordan, after outlining “they still spent £100million”.
“The balance between giving a football manager what he wants, and what’s economically right for your football club is very difficult. You’ve got to walk this line.”

Questioning the tone of the comments, Jordan said: “I think he has [had these conversations] with the owners, I would expect him to say that to me [the owner]. I’d have no problem with him saying ‘I’ve proven the point and I can achieve more, my ambitions are more’.
“I would suggest to you that there’s a distinct possibility that the guys that own Leeds, that are very experienced, will know what it takes to be successful.
“So, they will determine with the manager what is the right level of investment for the opportunities to stabilise Leeds.”
Concluding, the former Palace owner would say: “That’s the balance between having this conversation in private, or to some extent playing to the gallery. The gallery of Leeds saying ‘we are big and we don’t want to maintain the status quo, the manager’s right!
“[Farke] should, he absolutely should. I don’t think that’s the right way to do it, he’s also saying ‘maintaining the status quo ain’t good enough for this fella’. I’m not sure, with respect, you’ve got that much cachet.”
Farke comments may not sit well with Leeds hierarchy
Taking over following the 2023 relegation, Farke has done a fantastic job at Elland Road, guiding the West Yorkshire outfit back to the Premier League in 2025.
This season, he has adapted brilliantly, particularly with turning their iconic home stadium into a fortress, though it must be remembered that he was under immense pressure just a matter of months ago.

Farke has earned the chance to guide Leeds forward; how could he not after the scintillating form of recent months?
However, the question remains whether he has enough credit in the bank to make such comments publicly.
Leeds are a club with much higher ambitions than just ‘maintaining the status quo’ to quote the boss, but he has not yet proven himself capable of doing that.
If he were to, then he deserves every bit of praise thrown his way, though the coming season will be a huge test for both Farke and the club, as Leeds look to solidify themselves in the Premier League – something they failed to do during their last top-flight venture.
