Leeds United could look to cash in on Jack Harrison as Crysencio Summerville and Willy Gnonto emerge

Leeds have had a rollercoaster season so far, but there’s no doubt that stand-out moments so far have come from youngster Crysencio Summerville.

The Dutch winger broke into the team recently and has managed four goals in his last four games, including late winners against Liverpool and Bournemouth which has seen him make the left-wing spot his own.

Wilfried Gnonto has also made an impact at Elland Road after arriving on deadline day, and the Italy international is set to have more of a prevalent role under Jesse Marsch in the second half of the season.

But with those two adding to the options of Luis Sinisterra, Rodrigo Moreno, Brenden Aaronson, Patrick Bamford and Joe Gelhardt, there is the possibility that Jack Harrison could find himself out of the picture.

The former New York City FC winger started the season in good form and as the first choice left-winger, but was left on the bench in two of the last five games and was brought off at half-time in another.

His position in the side is no longer secured and with his current contract at the club set to expire in 2024, the upcoming transfer windows could be a chance to cash in and show some faith in the young players coming through.

Newcastle United were linked heavily in the summer window and while Leeds held firm and refused to sell then, should the Magpies return they could be more open now having seen how the team can perform without him.

It would also potentially open up a spot in the squad for the likes of Sonny Perkins or Mateo Joseph.

Harrison looked disillusioned recently when footage captured him still on the bench as Summerville scored an injury time winner against Bournemouth as the rest of the stadium went bezerk, and it could be a sign that he’s mentally checked out already.

A player who was seen as indispensable just a few months could now very much be the opposite, and the club could have a big decision to make once the season restarts and the transfer window rumours start up again.
