BBC: Leeds U23s striker ruled out until end of March with knee injury blow
Leeds United forward Ryan Edmondson is set to miss the next eight weeks of action due to a knee injury, according to BBC West Yorkshire Sport.
The broadcaster claimed via their official Twitter account on Monday evening that Edmondson, 18, has had to undergo surgery on his knee and will not be available to play again until the end of March.
Edmondson did not feature for Leeds’ Under-23s on Monday as they drew 2-2 against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough with January signing Jean-Kevin Augustin start up front.
Augustin, 22, was taken off at half time in a pre-planned change but picked up a knock just before the break, leading the concerns among Leeds supporters on Twitter.
However Carlos Corberan has since confirmed to MOT Leeds News that Augustin is going to be fine to train on Tuesday with the first-team.
As for Edmondson, that is not the case with the young striker now set for a lengthy spell of recovery before he can play again.
A lot of fans had been calling for Edmondson to feature for Marcelo Bielsa’s side during the period after Eddie Nketiah had left Elland Road and Augustin was signed as Patrick Bamford as the only out-and-out striker in the senior squad.
However Bielsa constantly overlooked the York-born teenager, who has had two first-team appearances for the Whites.
If the last month hadn’t been a big blow for Edmondson already due to the fact he failed to break into Bielsa’s squad, the next eight weeks are going to be even tougher for him.
In other Leeds United news, fans were delighted with one player’s display against Wigan on Saturday.
