Leeds United's hunt for Zion Suzuki looks to be ramping up amid perfect conditions for a deal.

The Whites want to improve in the goalkeeping department amid the uncertain future of Karl Darlow and the poor performances of Lucas Perri.

Among the LS11 side's options, Suzuki and James Trafford have been the most commonly associated names with an Elland Road switch.

But, now Suzuki looks to have taken the lead on the 49ers shortlist.

Over the last few days, the Whites have been handed plenty of incentive to push for the move.

Developments out of Parma have opened the door, and Leeds have seemingly wasted no time to push through it.

What is Leeds' status in the race for Zion Suzuki?

Suzuki was knocked out of the World Cup by Brazil on 29 June with Leeds star Ao Tanaka at fault for Brazil's winner.

But the outcome of that could be good news for the Whites' pursuit of the goalkeeper.

The Japanese international no longer has a focus on the international tournament, and he could cast his eyes on his future.

According to journalist Daniele Longo, who works for Calcio Mercato, Leeds are now "pressing hard" for the shot-stopper.

He shares that negotiations are underway for the 23-year-old. However, Daniel Farke's side face competition from Aston Villa.

The Elland Road side will want to push through talks as quickly as possible in order to avoid the Villans swooping in.

How Parma's business could move Leeds deal swiftly on

Encouragement over Leeds' push for Suzuki may have arrived from the business that Parma are conducting.

According to TV Dello Sport journalist Gianluigi Longari, the Serie A side have agreed a deal to sign Juventus goalkeeper Giovanni Daffara.

The 21-year-old's arrival means that the door for Suzuki to exit could be opened even wider.

Leeds will not have to wait for the Italian outfit to source a replacement and that could make talks move quicker.

With Emiliano Martinez still at Aston Villa, the Whites also have a further boost in the race.

Suzuki would be likely to get more minutes at Elland Road than he would for the Villa Park side.

With Japan's World Cup exit, and Parma moving quickly in the market for a goalkeeper, now is the perfect time for a deal to be made.

Especially in a position that could do with a well-needed upgrade.
