Nico Elvedi is one of the many names emerging for Leeds United this transfer window.

The Whites are in the market for defensive reinforcements, and the Swiss international's contract situation has alerted Daniel Farke.

Elvedi's contract with Borussia Monchengladbach is set to expire next summer, and like Leeds had to do with Pascal Struijk, a sale could be sanctioned to bring in funds.

The Bundesliga side do want to keep the Swiss international in Germany and are looking to extend his contract.

However, increasing interest could now threaten their hopes as both Gladbach and Leeds await a final decision from the centre-back.

But, while speculation rumbles on and Leeds' interest continues to be reported, the defender may have already left a hint.

What is the latest on Leeds' pursuit of Nico Elvedi?

Leeds could find themselves quickly battling for the signature of Elvedi now, as new reports out of Germany have emerged.

German publication Rheinische Post via their print edition have shared that the Elland Road side are no longer the only Premier League side in the mix.

However, their information has not shared who that competition could be after Leeds previously sent a £7.3million bid, which Gladbach rejected.

Rheinische Post had also previously reported that Borussia Dortmund led the Elvedi race due to an expiring contract clause.

And that still appears to be the case.

But, based on previous and current actions of the defender, that may hint to his future plans.

How Elvedi may already be hinting at decision over his future

In previous seasons, Elvedi has been quick to speak out over his future amid speculation.

In 2024, as shared by BILD, he directly stated he was willing to listen to offers.

He said: "I’ve been in Gladbach for nine years now and I’m grateful for this incredibly long time. But of course, my contract situation is known. To be honest, if something interesting comes along, I’ll listen to it.”

Now, Elvedi has found himself in another situation surrounding his contract, but as Rheinische Post share, this time around he has been quiet.

They report that he "has not yet made any statements to the club" over his intentions this summer window.

While the silence does not indicate he has made his mind up that he is leaving, the ambiguity alone does keep that speculation alive.

For a player who has previously been so upfront, it does signal that every option is still on the table this summer.
