Why Leeds' Largie Ramazani stance pushed Valencia towards Harvey Elliott

Largie Ramazani secured his exit from Leeds United on deadline day.

The Belgian winger was no longer part of Daniel Farke's plans, and if he had stayed, minutes would have been limited.

Ramazani has joined Burnley on loan, but the move contains an obligation to buy at the end of the season.

Effectively putting an end to his time at Elland Road, after he joined in 2024.

However, for much of the window, it looked like Ramazani would be on his way back to Valencia, with Leeds' decision leaving the La Liga side to scramble.

How Leeds United force Valencia into 'record' time deal

Ramazani was Valencia's first-choice forward signing but in the end they had to move on to signing Harvey Elliott.

However, the failure to land the Belgian was through no fault of Valencia's as they seemingly could not meet the demands of Leeds.

According to the print edition of Spanish outlet Levante EMV on 2 September, Leeds rejected Valencia's advances to sign Ramazani.

Then, alongside Leeds' refusal to sell to Valencia on their terms, and with the Spanish side losing to Deportivo A Coruna, the pursuit to find a Ramazani alternative was ramped up.

The outlet shares that a move for Elliott was then put into motion in "record time" with Ramazani then staying in England and signing for Burnley.

Did Leeds complete the business they needed to?

On deadline day, Leeds moved quick to solve their issues in the squad.

Melvin Bard was brought in as left-back cover by the Whites, and that was very much needed for this season.

Additionally, Jean-Matteo Bahoya has arrived in a deadline busting deal, and supporters will be excited to watch him in action.

Leeds have done some great work this window and Farke will be more than happy with how his squad was built.
