Why Jurgen Klopp's Harvey Elliott admission should excite Leeds United

Leeds United admire Liverpool's Harvey Elliott as they look to sign a playmaker.

The Whites have been looking to close a deal for free agent Julian Brandt over the last few weeks.

Meanwhile, Pavel Sulc is another name that has emerged upon their ever-growing shortlist.

But Elliott to Leeds United is not a new link for the Whites, and it is one that simply refuses to go away.

The 23-year-old spent many years under the tutelage of Jurgen Klopp, with the German's opinion of the midfielder in quite high esteem.

And his previous comments about the Englishman should provide plenty of excitement among the Peacocks' fanbase.

Why Harvey Elliott's best trait is ideal for Leeds United

MOT Leeds News has been reporting on the latest involving Elliott to Leeds, and Daniel Farke may have more reason to pursue a deal.

When at Liverpool, Elliott endured a serious injury in the 2021-2022 season, which did happen to be at Elland Road against the Whites.

Pascal Struijk's challenge on the midfielder left him with a dislocated ankle and put him out of action for several months.

But, upon his return, Klopp's assessment of Elliott provided a significant glimpse into who the Englishman is.

After he returned from that injury, Klopp praised his mindset, stating, as relayed by Sky Sports: "Probably his biggest talent is how ready mentally he is out there."

And that mentality could be the ingredient needed as Leeds look to improve on last season's finish.

More interestingly, in 2024 when Liverpool were without Mohamed Salah due to AFCON and injury, Elliott had seamlessly filled the right-wing role.

Klopp said, via Liverpool's website: "Harvey is exceptional. [He is] still so young, so exceptional. He was, for a long time, one of our best players when he played right wing when Mo was injured or at the Africa Cup of Nations."

While things have not worked out for Elliott over the last two seasons at Liverpool, and then on-loan at Aston Villa, he is still only 23 years old.

And earning that level of praise from a manager with as many accomplishments as Klopp is nothing to turn your nose up at.

Why Leeds must remain patient over Elliott

With Liverpool having a new manager at the helm in Andoni Iraola, the Whites will have to wait for his final assessment.

The Spaniard has left the door open for Elliott to make a comeback in the Liverpool shirt after it had looked like he would be leaving.

Iraola is set to give Elliott a chance to stake his claim heading into the next season.

But, if it is deemed that the Englishman's future lies elsewhere, then Leeds should position themselves to swoop.

Klopp's endorsement of the type of player and man that Elliott is should be enough to get Leeds fans excited.
