Igor Paixao feels like one of those names that refuses to go away until he eventually signs for Leeds United.

Leeds targeted the Brazilian attacker first after promotion to the Premier League last summer.

Instead, he weirdly joined Marseille from Feyenoord.

And now after only one year and an impressive year in France, financial troubles mean Paixao could be on the move again.

Daniel Farke has made it no secret that he wants more reinforcements before the 1 September deadline.

Paixao could be the final big-name arrival, with another striker, left-back and goalkeeper also wanted.

Igor Paixao drama is unravelling in Marseille

For all of the summer, the sounds coming from France have been that the winger doesn't want to move.

He's happy where he is, but serious financial trouble could force Marseille to cash in on their prized asset.

La Provence has now reported in its print edition on Wednesday that Paixao's door is now slightly more ajar to an exit.

The French newspaper states on 26 August that Leeds are one of three Premier League clubs interested, with that a popular destination.

It's said that Aston Villa and Sunderland are also at the table, with offers of just over £25million rejected.

Interestingly, Paixao was absent from training on Tuesday afternoon.

Could Leeds sign Igor Paixao?

It looked as though they had accepted their fate and moved on to other targets over the past week.

While that pursuit may also continue, the Whites may shift their attention back to Paixao, as he flirts with an exit.

Leeds and the 49ers want several new faces, so only one more marquee arrival is likely possible, which is where the Brazilian would fall.

With another striker, left-back and goalkeeper needed for cover, a new left winger could go straight in to start.

Noah Okafor would have something to say about that, but some market opportunities are too good to turn down.

After missing training and opening the door to a possible exit, this could be a very intense week for both Paixao and Leeds.

This one just refuses to go away.
