Leeds United told conditions to revive Mykhailo Mudryk deal as preference named

Leeds United have significant work to do to win the race for Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk.

The Ukraine winger was cleared to return to action last month after winning a case with the Court of Arbitration for Sport over a suspension imposed for an adverse finding for a prohibited substance.

Chelsea are keen to find a temporary move for Mudryk to gain him some regular minutes that he is unlikely to get at Stamford Bridge.

Leeds have been named among the interested parties, with other team in the Premier League and across Europe said to be tracking the 25-year-old.

Daniel Farke is keen to add quality to his forward line before the end of the transfer window on Tuesday, 1 September.

It is proving a tricky deal for Leeds to get over the line, and two conditions have been named for the Whites to improve their chances.

Leeds have done some good work in the transfer window thus far.

Harry Wilson, Tarik Muharemovic, James Trafford, and Nico Elvedi have arrived at Elladn Road during the summer.

However, Farke - whose side started their Premier League campaign with a 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest on Saturday - wants more quality in attacking positions.

As such they have targeted a loan deal for Mudryk, but Ben Jacobs reported that an offer was formally rejected and Chelsea no longer consider them an option.

However, the talkSPORT and GiveMeSport journalist followed up on that initial post with more information.

Jacobs says Leeds have been told to improve the terms offered and pitch significant minutes in order to get a deal done.

Additionally, BBC Sport journalist Nizaar Kinsella reports that a move to Leeds remains Mudryk's priority, though said it remains to be seen if a deal can be revived.

As things stand, Leeds certainly have work to do if they are going to convince Chelsea they should be the winners of the race for Mudryk's signature.

Where would Mudryk play for Leeds?

Considering that Mudryk was once one of the most sought-after wingers in world football, you can see the appeal of this deal for Leeds.

However, the difficulty is that Farke has largely favoured a 3-5-2 formation, using wing-backs as opposed to traditional wingers.

If Mudryk were to sign he would likely have to play more centrally and closer to Dominic Calvert-Lewin or change to a system that uses wingers.

So, you can see where the difficulty is for Leeds here, because right now there is not necessarily a guaranteed starting berth for Mudryk.
