Why Harvey Vincent’s Scarborough Athletic loan is make-or-break for his Leeds United future
Harvey Vincent faces a pivotal few months in his attempts to make it at Leeds United.
The 19-year-old winger has joined Scarborough Athletic on loan in an attempt to get senior football under his belt.
Vincent has been making waves at Thorp Arch recently with Scott Gardner’s under-21 side, but his loan departure has now been confirmed.
He was nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award in September after notching four goal contributions.
The temporary spell away from Elland Road is only supposed to last a month at the moment.
However, it could be make or break for the young prospect, despite the short length of time.
Why is Harvey Vincent's spell away from Leeds so important?
Vincent’s contract situation in LS11 is what makes the loan spell so important.
He is currently set to be out of contract in the summer of 2027, with no agreement on fresh terms reached yet.
That means that if he can not prove himself with the National League North side, in his first regular senior football experience, it could be curtains.
The Yorkshire side will have little faith that he can produce at higher levels, if he struggles with a sixth-tier team.
If he succeeds there, then it may convince Daniel Farke and Co. to offer him a new deal and tie his future down so he can work behind Noah Okafor on the left.
Right now, though, it is a very precarious position for the youngster to find himself in.
Who will Vincent be working under at Scarborough?
Vincent will have a very good role model to try to help him succeed in former Premier League player Jonathan Greening.
The Seadogs manager featured 252 times in English football’s top-flight, with seven Europa League appearances and four Champions League games under his belt.
He will be able to help the Peacocks’ talent to try to reach his potential and give him tips and tricks to try and help him.
Whether it will be a success, that remains to be seen, but if it is not, then it spells trouble for the two-cap England U16 star.
Hopefully, he goes to the Flamingo Land Stadium and smashes it and earns a new contract with the Premier League team.
