Oumar Solet has emerged as another contender to fill Leeds United's centre-back void.

After losing Pascal Struijk, Daniel Farke's side are very light in the centre of defence.

There have been several links for defenders throughout Europe, and it seems the Whites are casting their net wide.

Now, Solet has entered the fray as the incomings at Elland Road look to ramp up following the arrival of Harry Wilson.

Solet is currently playing for Udinese in Serie A, but has spent four years in the highly reputable Red Bull Salzburg system.

Solet has played at the youth levels for France as well, but has yet to get a senior cap, and a move to the Premier League could help him achieve that.

What has been said about Leeds' interest in Oumar Solet?

Centre-back is a priority position for Leeds this summer, and that much is made clear by the number of names they have been attached to.

The Serie A is seemingly a league they have been drawn to, as Leeds' interest in Sassuolo defender Tarik Muharemovic is also stepping up.

Now, according to journalist Francesco Guerrieri, who writes for Calciomercato in Italy, there is also "strong interest" from Leeds in Solet.

Additionally, he shares that the Whites have already made contact with the agent of the French defender.

In terms of a fee, Inter Milan had been chasing the Udinese star earlier in June, with Gianluca Di Marzio sharing that the Serie A side were looking for £21.3million.

How would Oumar Solet fit into Leeds' squad?

Solet is a right-footed centre-back and while ideally replacing Struijk with another left-sided defender is the goal, it is not necessarily the only criteria.

Ousmane Diomande is Leeds' dream signing for defence, and the Ivorian is also right-footed.

So, it does appear that the LS11 side are not limiting itself in terms of options in the market.

However, Solet did play on the left hand side of Udinese's defence last season, so he is clearly capable of performing in that role.

In terms of Solet's profile, he is known for his recovery speed as well as his ball-playing qualities.

At 6'3", Solet is also a physically imposing central defender, well able to deal with any aerial threat that comes his way.

Muharemovic is left-footed and has been offered a long-term contract by Leeds, so it could be interesting if they want both.

Overall, he does have the qualities that the Whites are now missing following the departure of Struijk, and could seamlessly slot into that void.
