Where Joel Piroe's Leeds United exit now stands as West Ham medical update emerges
Joel Piroe's move from Leeds United to West Ham United is rapidly advancing.
News emerged on Sunday that West Ham were looking to sign Piroe after failing to conclude a deal for Troy Parrott.
The Hammers were relegated from the Premier League last season, but they are much fancied to earn an instant return
Signing Piroe will certainly help with that, given the Suriname international's goalscoring record in that division.
Piroe is out of the picture under Daniel Farke at Elland Road, with an exit always seeming likely this month.
After missing out on a move in the winter window, it does not look like anything will prevent a transfer before the summer window shuts.
The next stages for Joel Piroe's Leeds exit outlined
Piroe has made clear to Leeds he wants to leave in order to play regular first-team football.
Farke once hailed Piroe's finishing ability as "world class", but chances to show what he is capable of have been limited over the past year.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin is Farke's first-choice striker again this season, with Lukas Nmecha also standing in Piroe's way.
According to the latest update via Sky Sports' live transfer blog on Monday afternoon, Piroe is now awaiting the green light from Leeds to travel to London.
Piroe will then undergo a medical before officially joining West Ham, assuming no issues are flagged in the medical.
The update added that the clubs "are ironing out the final details on a loan deal, with an obligation to buy".
The one question that remains unanswered over Piroe to West Ham
From a selfish perspective, keeping Piroe as a squad option would have made sense for Leeds.
But the striker is wasting away on the bench and is clearly good enough to play regularly elsewhere - not least in the Championship,
As outlined above, Piroe will be joining West Ham an on initial loan with an obligation to buy.
However, it has previously been suggested that obligation will only come into account if West Ham are promoted.
That is a pretty big factor. Leeds will want to land a fee for Piroe, so the potential of him returning in a year's time if West Ham do not go up is not something that suits Leeds at all.
With a deal looking as though it will soon be concluded, further clarity on the terms may be forthcoming sooner rather than later.
