Joel Piroe has been on the edges of Leeds United's squad eversince promotion to the Premier League.

Despite winning the Golden Boot as Leeds won the Championship title, it's been a rough past year for the striker.

Rare starts came at the beginning of the campaign, but then Dominic Calvert-Lewin was signed and never looked back.

With Lukas Nmecha also scoring off the bench, Piroe had zero chance of making a real impact.

Despite that, every public comment from the striker has been him wanting to stay in LS11 and fight for his spot.

With another year of little football promised, Piroe has seen enough before the transfer window closes.

According to The Athletic, the striker is now ready to move on.

Despite that, Leeds' £16million valuation is said to have put off several interested parties so far this summer.

Piroe's agent, Theo Roebbers, believes that is unrealistic, and has confirmed that if not sold, Piroe will see down his contract and leave for nothing.

Leeds and Daniel Farke clearly don't want that, and a crunch meeting was held between parties this week to bring down the price, with a loan and obligation also possible.

Interested parties remain in England, as well as Spain's Alaves, so Piroe leaving could still happen in this final two weeks of the window.

How much could Leeds United sell Joel Piroe for?

It's clear that £16m is very steep, even in today's market.

Piroe made 16 appearances in the Premier League, but only completed 246 minutes without being involved in a single goal.

That's sticking point number one, and with only one year left on his contract, there's no chance of hitting the mentioned figure.

Leeds signed Piroe for just above £10m, so anything close to that, or even slightly below, would represent great value.

The striker repaid that transfer fee with his goals to get the Whites back into the Premier League, so anything given back in monetary terms is worth it.

His agency is right, the valuation is steep, and it's best for all parties if Leeds bring in a fee and move on.

The 49ers have done great work with selling players, Joe Gelhardt the latest for up to £8.5million, so if they can get a similar fee like that for Piroe, they will be laughing.
