When Sebastiaan Bornauw will undergo medical for loan-to-buy Leeds United exit

Sebastiaan Bornauw looks to be on his way to Hamburg from Leeds United.

The Belgium international has faced an uncertain future this transfer window and it looks like his situation in LS11 is about to be resolved.

Daniel Farke hardly relied on the former VfL Wolfsburg centre-back in the previous campaign and it isn't surprising to see him leave.

Bornauw has played a big role during pre-season, though, but it looks like his time at Elland Road is coming to an end.

The 27-year-old's prominence in the squad has increased since Farke moved to the 5-3-2 formation, but he has struggled for regular game time.

With Joe Rodon, Jaka Bijol and Tarik Muharemovic seemingly the German manager's preferred partnership at the back for next season, the Belgian certainly needed a change of scenery.

Leeds have agreed to sign Nico Elvedi from Borussia Monchengladbach and he seems to be Bornauw's replacement.

The Whites have been preparing for the defender's departure from Elland Road and it now feels like a matter of time.

According to Hamburger Abendblatt on 15 August, the Belgium international will fly to Hamburg on Sunday to undergo his medical.

Once the centre-back is given the green light from the Bundesliga club's medical department, the deal will be finalised.

Bornauw will join the German side on loan, with the deal including an option to buy next summer.

Daniel Farke's defence assessed at Elland Road ahead of next season

Leeds will likely restore depth to their backline, with Elvedi replacing Bornauw.

At right-back, Jayden Bogle and James Justin are two quality options at Farke's disposal.

The former Leicester City defender can also slot in at centre-back and left-back.

Despite Justin's presence in the squad, the Whites still should look to add cover for Gabriel Gudmundsson.

It's going to be another long and hard season at Elland Road and the West Yorkshire outfit shouldn't leave themselves short in any department after an encouraging summer so far.

Now that the Peacocks have added quality to their team, they should look at filling the gaps with squad players in the coming weeks.
