Leeds United still have some work to do to complete the transfer of Nico Elvedi.

The Whites have been strongly linked with a move for the 73-cap Switzerland international throughout the window.

With Sebastiaan Bornauw reportedly on his way to join Bundesliga outfit Hamburg, Daniel Farke is in need of defensive reinforcements.

Elvedi, 29, previously played under Farke at Borussia Monchengladbach, and is well known to the Leeds boss as a result.

Gladbach are said to be willing to let Elvedi make the move as they appreciate the opportunity he could have at Leeds.

But things are not quite over the line yet, and Leeds still have work to do to get the deal for Elvedi signed and sealed.

What complication are Leeds United facing in Nico Elvedi transfer?

It has already been reported that Elvedi has agreed a three-year contract to join Leeds.

So, terms are seemingly not an issue between the Whites and the player as they look to get things moving to get pen put to paper.

But Rheinische Post reported on Saturday, 15 August that there are still complications for Leeds to overcome to get the transfer completed.

Most importantly, the German outlet says that Leeds have yet to make an offer Gladbach would be willing to pay for a top player, and as such negotiations are still ongoing.

Additionally, Gladbach still need to identify a suitable replacement for Elvedi, with several players on their radar.

However, in more positive news they do say that the likelihood of Elvedi departing this summer is increasing and both sides are working to finalise the deal.

What else do Leeds still need this transfer window?

Leeds have been proactive in trying to get Elvedi in the building after it became clear that Bornauw wanted to depart.

But there are still some areas in need of attention before the transfer window comes to a close next month.

First and foremost, Leeds could do with some back-up to new goalkeeper James Trafford, with Alex Cairns their only senior deputy.

Another left-back to provide competition for Gabriel Gudmundsson would also be welcome for Farke.

It is up top where the German really wants quality reinforcement, though, with both strikers and attacking midfielders/wingers being sought to bolster the options in the final third.
