What's next for Leeds United after Barcelona's Roony Bardghji update

Leeds United can check one transfer target off their list this summer in the form of Roony Bardghji.

The Whites have been linked with a move for the 20-year-old Kuwait-born winger throughout the transfer window.

A loan move had predominantly been mooted for the Sweden international, though Barcelona had been thought to be open to a full sale.

Daniel Farke is known to want more attacking options added to his squad before the end of the transfer window.

Leeds have signed Harry Wilson, Tarik Muharemovic, and James Trafford in the window to bolster their options for the new Premier League season.

But Bardghji will not be among any new incomings despite Leeds interest, after an official announcement from Barcelona today.

What have Barcelona said about Leeds United-linked Roony Bardghji?

Bardghji has been considered as one of the brightest prospects in world football for some time.

Having made a first-team breakthrough with Copenhagen, he was plucked by Barcelona in a £1.7million snip plus performance-related add-ons.

Bardghji made 28 competitive appearances last term, but mainly off the bench, and there had been an expectation he might ply his trade elsewhere this season, with Leeds heavily linked for Bardghji.

However, Barca confirmed on Tuesday that the youngster has sadly suffered a rupture of his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

Unfortunately, he is now set to undergo surgery in the coming days, and he is set to miss the majority of the upcoming campaign.

It means Leeds will have to go back to the drawing board to find a solution for Farke to boost his attacking options.

Who else could Leeds United look to sign this summer?

Farke is looking for a back-up striker for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, while another versatile attacker is being sought.

Marseille's Igor Paixao, who Leeds tried to sign from Feyenoord last summer, is on Leeds' radar though their interest is not thought to have progressed yet.

Lyon's Czechia international Pavel Sulc is another who has been heavily linked to Elland Road this summer.

Feyenoord's Ayase Ueda and Chelsea striker Liam Delap have also been loosely linked with a switch to Leeds.

As yet, though, nothing has moved towards concrete offers in terms of finding a new attacker.
