He netted 14 goals as Hull City secured an unlikely promotion to the Premier League, just one season after narrowly avoiding relegation.

Interest in Gelhardt has been rife with a number of EFL suitors emerging for the 24-year-old.

But now a return to Hull City and a chance to play Premier League football could be on the cards.

A return to Hull City has been mooted all summer for Gelhardt, and now it looks to finally be heading that direction

Amid interest from Wrexham in Gelhardt as well as from Birmingham City, the Tigers are finally stepping up their pursuit.

That is at least according to Hull Daily Mail.

They share in their report that Hull are now launching a bid to try bring the 24-year-old back to the MKM Stadium.

It is hoped by those at Hull City that a "swift resolution" can be sought and he could be included in their squad to face Nice on Saturday.

The move is largely being pushed by manager Sergej Jakirovic, with Gelhardt having his heart set on that reunion.

Hull had felt like they could wait to make their move towards the end of the window, but perhaps the emerging competition has now forced their hand in that matter.

How much could Leeds get for Gelhardt?

Leeds do not hold many cards when it comes to the sale of Gelhardt, with his contract set to expire in June 2027.

This summer could be the final chance to get a fee for out-of-favour forward.

When it comes to that price, Wrexham were quoted as wanting to fork out £4.5million, so the Whites could use that as a starting point.

With Gelhardt wanting the move to Hull, Hull now wanting Gelhardt back and Leeds having no plans for the Englishman, this could be one that begins to move quickly.

Leeds are already in the hunt to add a striker to their squad, regardless of Gelhardt's status, so they would not need to replace the 24-year-old.
