Jack Harrison has penned a farewell message to Leeds United fans following confirmation of his move to New England Revolution.

The winger's Leeds exit was made official in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Harrison had spent eight years on Leeds' books, but the vast majority of the past three of those were spent out on loan.

He started his career at Elland Road strongly but lost the support of the fanbase when departing for Everton in the first of three loans.

Leeds thanked Harrison for his years of service, while the player himself has now spoken out.

Jack Harrison 'excited' for new chapter post-Leeds

Harrison is familiar with Major League Soccer, having started his career off at New York City FC in 2016.

A decade on, the 29-year-old is now back in the American league with New England.

In a message to his 190,000 Instagram followers on Monday in his first personal message since leaving Elland Road, Harrison said: "It’s hard to put into words what Leeds United has meant to me.

"When I arrived in 2018, I joined a club with an incredible history and supporters who demanded everything from the players who wore the shirt.

"I could never have imagined the journey we were about to go on together. Leeds became my home and gave me memories I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life.

"Some of the greatest moments of my career came in Leeds colours. The last couple of years haven’t been straightforward.

"Going out on loan wasn’t an easy decision, and I understand that many supporters found it difficult to accept but football sometimes takes you in unexpected directions, one thing that never changed was my respect for Leeds United.

"I always wanted this club to succeed, and seeing Leeds back where it belongs in the Premier League makes me proud. Leeds United isn’t just another club to me.

"It helped to shape me as a footballer, as a person, and gave me memories and connections I’ll cherish forever. I’ll always look back with immense pride at what we achieved together.

"Thank you for everything. I'm excited for the next chapter, but until we meet again... Marching on Together."

How did New England Revolution unveil Harrison?

The Revs confirmed the signing of Harrison during half-time of their clash with Atlanta United over the weekend.

He was introduced on the field after a video package to build up the hype.

New England fans have every right to be excited by Harrison's return to MLS.

Sure, he has had minimal impact in the Premier League - and in Serie A in the second half of last season - for a few years now.

But that is not to say he cannot still have an impact Stateside in a league of lesser quality.

Harrison is now free to start his new chapter abroad, while Leeds finally have his massive wages off their books for good.
