The four transfer wishes that remain for Leeds United after James Trafford deal

Leeds United have some key areas to turn their attention to once they get a deal over the line for James Trafford.

The Whites are closing in on the signing of the England international, one that will be worth an initial £40million.

Depending on performance and club-related clauses, Leeds may have to pay Manchester City an additional £5m in bonuses for the keeper, who will soon become the fourth-most expensive shot-stopper in history.

It's said that the 23-year-old is poised to earn £130,000 per week at Elland Road, with a long-term contract awaiting him.

He is viewed as England's future number one goalkeeper, and he could even replace Jordan Pickford in between the sticks at the 2030 World Cup if his development continues in LS11.

With Leeds set to finalise a deal for Trafford, Daniel Farke still has some other areas of the pitch that he wants to improve.

The Whites were always going to push on for a new keeper once they learned of Karl Darlow's preference to join Manchester United.

It's left Farke with only Alex Cairns and exit-bound Lucas Perri, who now looks set to join Serie A side Torino on a loan-to-buy obligation.

But MOT Leeds News understands that Trafford will be Farke's next signing, with an agreement now close with Man City.

The Daily Mail have reported this Tuesday that Leeds would still like cover for Trafford, meaning another new shot-stopper could be on their way to LS11.

This makes sense after Illan Meslier also left the club, but they won't stop there.

It's also said that cover at left-back for Gabriel Gudmundsson is wanted, while another attacking midfielder and a new striker are also desired.

Interestingly, Farke deployed Harry Wilson as a number 10 during the Whites' pre-season friendly defeat to Wrexham, with it a position that clearly needs some extra depth, especially if the German head coach reverts to a 4-2-3-1 system

The players who could be in Leeds' thinking

It's not known if Farke would like a striker who could come in and be an instant starter, though that is probably the case.

But after Lois Openda chose to move to Lyon, Leeds will have to look elsewhere for a new number nine.

German attacking midfielder Julian Brandt has been heavily linked with a move to Elland Road, with rumours only growing after his father recently visited Thorp Arch for early discussions.

Orjan Nyland is of interest for Leeds, and given his Premier League experience, he could take the spot that Darlow had this time last year.

As for a new left-back, no real concrete links have suggested that Leeds are close or very keen on someone in specific.

Time will tell, but there's still work to be done after Trafford.
