Terms of Sebastiaan Bornauw exit advanced - Leeds United fans won't be happy

Sebastiaan Bornauw is closing on his exit from Leeds United.

The Belgian defender has featured heavily during pre-season at Elland Road, but that doesn't appear to be enough.

After a year of keeping depth for Daniel Farke, Bornauw has made it clear that he wants more in his career already.

Signing from Wolfsburg last summer, the enforcer is set for a return to Germany already.

It's Hamburg who want to sign him, with terms almost finalised, but it won't please Leeds fans too much.

Even with Nico Elvedi signing from Borussia Monchengladbach, a haunting past is still showing its ugly face.

As Bornauw advances towards an exit, Leeds fans have been waiting to see what happens next.

Florian Plettenberg has reported that Hamburg are now accelerating towards a deal for the defender.

They want to loan Bornauw with an option to buy, not an obligation.

Leeds have agreed a deal to sign Elvedi for £8.5million, so Bornauw's exit should progress at the same time alongside it.

49ers make first transfer mistake of summer

It's been a huge summer of transfer wins for Leeds and the 49ers.

Making huge signings like Harry Wilson on a free and Tarik Muharemovic for £35m, they weren't done there.

James Trafford has become the new record signing at Elland Road, in a deal worth up to £45m, just to further prove them ambitions.

But it's not only incomings that have impressed, Leeds have finally started selling unwanted players permanently.

For too many years, they've loaned players out and not sold them, picking up decent money to continue pumping into the squad.

That has happened this time around, with Pascal Struijk, Joe Gelhardt, Jack Harrison, Max Wober and Isaac Schmidt leaving for more than £30m combined.

They would never have played, but have brought down the net spend considerably.

Bornauw leaving on loan with only an option isn't great, but maybe Farke still sees a future for him in LS11.

Thankfully, Leeds have moved quickly to secure Elvedi as a replacement, so let's hope a loan exit doesn't come back to haunt us.
