Sources: Leeds face fresh Jack Harrison dilemma as exit could hinge on one detail

Published on

Leeds United are continuing to negotiate with the New England Revolution over an exit for Jack Harrison, MOT Leeds News understands.

Harrison is not wanted by Daniel Farke at Elland Road after the winger failed to integrate back into the squad last season.

The 29-year-old is a respected member of the squad, but his lack of output in terms of goals and assists saw him loaned out to Fiorentina in January.

While that is still the case, Harrison's exit is not looking the formality it perhaps did a week ago.

If a move to Major League Soccer was to break down, it would leave Leeds with a dilemma in terms of what to do next.

Leeds stand firm on Jack Harrison exit demand

Harrison is Leeds' second-highest earner behind Dominic Calvert-Lewin, explaining the eagerness to get rid.

The former New York City FC player is believed to be on wages of around £90,000 a week in West Yorkshire.

MOT Leeds News has learned through sources that Leeds have asked for the Revs to take care of those wages in full.

Harrison would be joining the Revs on an initial loan with an obligation to buy.

It is this detail that is holding up a deal going through.

What next for Harrison to seal Leeds exit?

Leeds inserting an obligation to buy in the agreement, rather than an option, changes the picture somewhat.

There were fears Harrison would simply just be returning to Elland Road in a year's time and be back in the same boat.

Instead, Revs will take care of his wages - albeit it is not known exactly how much at this stage - before buying him outright down the line.

It is now down to Leeds and New England Revolution to reach an agreement that works for both teams - or at least as best is possible.

The good news is there is still plenty of the summer window to go, but hopefully negotiations do not drag on much longer.
