RB Leizpig decide on Conrad Harder exit as Leeds transfer state of play revealed

Leeds United have been given a boost to their chances of signing Conrad Harder.

The 21-year-old is a highly-rated young striker who only joined RB Leipzig last summer.

However, his debut 2025-26 campaign in Germany didn't quite go to plan, scoring just three times in 32 total appearances.

Leeds are understood to still be searching for a striker before the 1 September deadline, and Harder's is now cropping up in Whites transfer circles.

Despite his tender age, he turned out 52 times for Sporting CP and over 40 times for Danish side Nordsjaelland before joining Leipzig.

And, with Daniel Farke perhaps looking for an upgrade behind Dominic Calvert-Lewin, the door appears open to Harder if Leeds are keen.

It was reported on Tuesday that Leeds have registered their interest in Harder, as Farke goes in search of more signings.

Given his age, the Leipzig talent would definitely be a long-term project signing at Elland Road.

Whether or not that would interest him remains to be seen, but his German employers are leaving the door open for his exit.

Sky Sports Germany reporter Philipp Hinze claims via X on Tuesday that Leeds are indeed keen on Harder, but haven't yet tabled an offer.

Leipzig are claimed to be mulling over a loan with the option to buy offer from Italian giants Lazio, which could scupper Leeds' plans.

Hinze claims that Leipzig have received a number of loan enquiries regarding their young striker, and that the feeling is that he will be allowed to leave.

The post also claims that Harder isn't Leeds' main transfer priority, and so the Whites may not currently be at the front of the queue to sign him.

Leipzig aren't guaranteed to move him on though, as Hinze states that any exit will depend on the terms and fabric of the deal.

So, despite his underwhelming goal return in 2025-26, do Harder's underling numbers paint a more exciting picture to Leeds fans?

Harder made 29 appearances in the Bundesliga last term, with eight of those being starts.

He would culminate a little over 900 minutes of German top-flight action in 2025-26, and despite the goals not being there, he did still impress in other areas.

As per FotMob, Harder's 4.11 shots and 0.29 assists per game averages ranked him in the top 8.2 percentile of all Bundesliga strikers last season.

Meanwhile, he also placed in the top 14.8 percentile for his 80 per cent long ball accuracy, and the leading 16.4 per cent for his 0.39 big chances created per 90.

Standing at 6'1", he shouldn't have any issues handling the physical side of playing Premier League football either.

So, Leeds could see him as a potential long-term Calvert-Lewin successor, and one that may be obtained this summer on a relatively shrewd deal.
