PSV Eindhoven want club-record fee for Cody Gakpo, Leeds United to return in January
PSV Eindhoven will demand a club-record fee to sell Cody Gakpo to Leeds United in January, but there is an “expectancy” he will leave according to FootballTransfers.
Gakpo was on the verge of a move to Elland Road on deadline day before he had a change of heart and decided to stay in the Eredivisie to cement his place in the Netherlands’ World Cup squad.
But with ten goals in 13 games so far this season interest remains high from several Premier League clubs and according to reporter Jacques Talbot, the Dutch club will demand a club-record fee to do a deal.

Currently the record stands at £39.6m after they sold Hirving Lozano to Napoli but the price could surpass that considering Gakpo’s current form.
Leeds are joined by Everton, Southampton and Manchester United in the race for his signature with the report claiming that Old Trafford remains his most likely destination after the World Cup.
Boring
This saga is already getting boring for Leeds fans, but the link to the player just won’t go away and it’s clear the club remain interested.
Andrea Radrizzani all but confirmed on Twitter on deadline day that the club would try again in January, and the player admitted that he was expecting to join Manchester United in the summer.

With his excellent form and the World Cup coming up, there are likely to be even more suitors for his signature in January than there were in the summer and it will be incredibly tough for Leeds to do a deal.
It should be noted, and the club should ensure there are back up plans in place if they want to sign an attacker because the chances of bringing him in are slim to none.
With so much money seemingly available to do a deal, fingers crossed they spend the money wisely if he doesn’t come and don’t just hold it or blow it on someone else.
