‘Marseille talks dismissed’ as Igor Paixao wants Leeds United transfer

Leeds United could potentially beat Olympique Marseille to sign Feyenoord forward Igor Paixao this transfer window.

The 25-year-old has set the Eredivisie alight this season, and it isn’t surprising to see top teams fighting for his signature.

Paixao is a target at Elland Road as the Whites look to strengthen their attack ahead of their return to Premier League action.

Marseille were said to have a deal in place with Feyenoord for the Brazilian winger, but the reality behind those claims has emerged.

Paixoa transfer to Marseille fed from French quarters as Leeds United in race

Paixao’s move to the Ligue 1 outfit seemingly being imminent were fueled by French quarters trying to sway the battle in their favour, according to Leeds Live.

The news outlet reports (21 July) that the Whites are still in the picture to pull off the 25-year-old’s transfer at Elland Road.

It’s been claimed that the West Yorkshire outfit see the Brazil national as an attainable target, and he is open to a move to LS11.

The Peacocks are looking to reinforce the left side of their attack this summer, and the Feyenoord attacker would undoubtedly be an impressive addition.

Leeds should push for Paixao and blow Marseille out of water

Daniel Farke has admitted Patrick Bamford doesn’t have a future at Leeds, making bolstering the front line an evident priority for them.

The German manager relied on Joel Piroe as his first-choice number nine last season, but the Dutchman can’t be expected to shoulder the goalscoring burden in the Premier League.

It’s clear that the West Yorkshire outfit need more quality in the final third, and Paixao will certainly help with that.

Leeds could also lose Mateo Joseph this summer, as the Spanish youngster has struggled for game time.

The Whites must give Farke enough options in the forward line ahead of next season if they hope to have the best chance of avoiding immediate relegation.

Paixao’s contributions at Feyenoord will encourage many of the Elland Road faithful that he could be a game-changing signing.

With the Peacocks still in the race, they should push to get the Brazilian forward and blow Marseille out of the water.
