How much money Leeds will save as Bamford told to find new club
Patrick Bamford now looks set to leave Leeds United after weeks of speculation.
The former England international has been at the Yorkshire club since 2018 and has helped oversee two promotions to the Premier League.
However, in the last campaign, the striker failed to find the net once, despite Daniel Farke’s side winning the Championship.
As a result, speculation surrounding the 31-year-old’s future has increased throughout the window.
Leeds set to save at least £770k with Bamford departure
On Saturday, reports emerged that Bamford was not in Farke’s plans for the upcoming season.
As a result, it is expected that the striker will leave Elland Road at some point during the transfer window.
With the 31-year-old in the last year of his contract and out of form, any transfer fee will likely be small.
However, given the wages the striker is on, it should save the Yorkshire club hundreds of thousands.
It was previously reported that Bamford was on £70k-a-week at Leeds.

Since then, The Athletic (29 April) claimed that Leeds’ player wages have gone up by 50-60 per cent after winning promotion.
Therefore, based on this, between now and the expiry of his contract, Bamford would pick up £770k in wages.
On top of this, the striker would likely pick up additional funds from bonuses and clauses which could be triggered from something as simple as an appearance.
Even if Bamford wasn't to play a single match for Leeds, he could cost the Yorkshire club further if he were to get injured, forcing physios to nurse him back to fitness.
Therefore, any sale over the next few weeks would likely save the Peacocks more than £770k.
Farke needs a quick Bamford exit
As much as a quick Bamford exit would save Leeds money, it would also help the dressing room atmosphere.
Farke is unlikely to be keen on having a player who is destined for an exit around for the opening weekend of the Premier League.
The German needs his squad to be without any stragglers who could affect the mood of the dressing room.
Hopefully, the transfer saga will be over by the end of July, with Bamford preparing for the new campaign at a different club.
