Mateo Joseph's future is up in the air at Leeds United.

Daniel Farke's side kick-started their pre-season schedule with a 0-0 draw against Man United (19 July), with plenty of details emerging from the squad choice.

Several stars were absent, including Brenden Aaronson, Mateo Joseph, Isaac Schmidt and a handful of others whose future is in doubt.

However, Farke cleared up all of the absences after the game, opening the door for one of those players to move on, and it may spell bad news for Joseph.

Patrick Bamford update could affect Joseph

Signing a striker has been a priority for Leeds ever since their promotion was confirmed, and that won't have changed at all now.

After the goalless draw in Stockholm, Farke revealed that Bamford is no longer in his plans at Elland Road, opening the door for the 31-year-old to move on.

On the face of it, it seems like a smart decision given his injury troubles and inability to contribute in the final third, though Joseph may see it differently.

Joseph hardly started in the Championship.

The Spaniard is now very unlikely to be sold until new arrivals check in at Elland Road, which could hamper his chances of securing first-team football elsewhere.

He is almost certainly not going to be a starter for the Whites next season, and may not even feature in many matchday squads.

If Bamford's exit serves as any form of block to his own, frustrations will be high, and depending on future arrivals, he may be forced to stay as depth.

Leeds must sign a striker imminently

If there is one area that needs to be strengthened for Leeds to have a chance at survival, it is certainly in the attacking department.

Goals win games, and as it stands, the Whites do not have anyone that they can hang their hopes on to achieve that in the Premier League.
