Mario Gotze has told Leeds why they should sign Michael Zetterer as new twist emerges in saga
Mario Gotze is a big fan of Leeds United transfer target Michael Zetterer.
The two are teammates at Eintracht Frankfurt, with Zetterer currently being linked with a move to the Whites.
Daniel Farke is keen to sign a back-up goalkeeper for James Trafford, with Lucas Perri still expected to depart Elland Road.
Paraag Marathe and Co. have had to reassess their options after a move for San Lorenzo's Orlando Gill failed to emerge as a success.
However, it seems like Leeds have their sights set on signing a new keeper to go right in between Trafford and Alex Cairns for the number two spot.
But there has been some confusion over Zetterer's move to Leeds, with a new twist now in place.
The latest twist in Michael Zetterer to Leeds
Leeds are reportedly close to signing Zetterer, despite previous comments from his agent, denying rumours of a move to LS11.
It has been said that Frankfurt wanted to work around his agent's remarks, and could be set to land £4.3million from his sale.
According to German outlet Bild, Zetterer's stance was that he did not want to be pushed out of Germany.
However, Frankfurt are keen to sign another regular shot-stopper before their next game, and are in talks with Freiburg's Noah Atubolu.
The Bundesliga side already has four keepers on their books, and after an 11-0 DFB Pokal cup win over St. Tonis on Saturday, Zetterer now acknowledges a move may be in his best interests after being benched.
With Leeds reportedly closing in on the signing of the 31-year-old, all the signs have turned positive ahead of a rumoured move to Elland Road.
Gotze's verdict on his fellow German compatriot should also give Leeds confidence ahead of a move.

Leeds were always going to need to sign a new number two in between the sticks after Karl Darlow and Illan Meslier both left the club.
Cairns made his first appearance for the Whites at Elland Road during pre-season, but Farke knows the veteran cannot solely be relied on behind Trafford.
Zetterer looks to be that man, as Gotze's admission on the shot-stopper will have Farke beaming from ear to ear.
Gotze said: "We have two goalkeepers here: Zetti and Kaua. In the end, they are teammates of mine.
"They give a top performance every day in training. I see the boys working – for the team and also for the club. That's the most important thing. You saw it in training. Everyone is there; everyone wants to. That's all crucial.
"How it turns out remains to be seen. But that's not my thing. That is for others to decide. Both are top goalkeepers."
