Marcelo Bielsa and Frank Lampard butted heads on spygate, but they both approve of who Leeds now want to sign
Leeds United could find something that Frank Lampard and Marcelo Bielsa both agree on by signing Harry Wilson.
The two head coaches are now in new roles of their own with Coventry City and Uruguay respectively.
Things were certainly different seven years ago when both were managing in the Championship.
They came head to head four times throughout one season in 2018/19, with the latter being one of the most dramatic in recent memory.
That encounter meant so much due to the spygate scandal and the added intensity of a play-off semi-final.
Lampard and Bielsa weren't big fans of each other that day, but both only have good things to say about Leeds target Wilson.
Leeds could sign Harry Wilson six years after first Marcelo Bielsa link
The Wales international has now been linked with a move to Elland Road on a free transfer.
The Athletic reported on Tuesday that the attacking midfielder is in positive talks over a move to Elland Road.
His representatives are working to reach a final agreement that could be confirmed soon.
That could see Wilson become a Leeds player, which is something that Bielsa wanted to see in 2020.
Bielsa wanted him in LS11 to improve his squad in the Premier League while being able prove himself in the Premier League.
The Argentine clearly rated his talents highly, summed up by describing him as "exceptional" after Derby County beat Leeds in the playoff semi-final at Elland Road.
That interest came off the back of a loan spell at Pride Park, where Lampard loved working with the Welshman.
What did Frank Lampard say about Wilson at Derby?
Things didn't end positivity for Wilson and Lampard with the Rams after tasting defeat in the playoff final against Aston Villa.
The winger returned to Liverpool and the head coach sealed a move to Chelsea at the end of the season.
That didn't stop the former England international from speaking highly of the Anfield loanee throughout the season.
In one example, an interview with Derby County summed up exactly what Lampard thought of the attacker
He said: "He does have more to offer but we know he has that special ability and that comes down to hard work that I know he puts in."
The manager also made it clear that Wilson is capable of a "a moment of magic" after a Championship win against Swansea City in 2018.
All that feeds into what Bielsa makes of Wilson and will only fuel the excitement surrounding the potential free transfer this summer.
