Lukas Nmecha proves why Daniel Farke can't sanction Leeds United exit with Nottingham Forest scenes

Lukas Nmecha proved his future belongs at Leeds United with his display in the 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

The German forward linked up with the Elland Road side last summer, notching seven goals and three assists in his first season.

He has been subject of exit speculation in recent weeks, with Championship side Wrexham showing interest.

The Welsh side were reportedly eyeing an "ambitious" swoop for the Whites ace.

However, the Carabao Cup clash at the City Ground should save Nmecha's career in LS11.

How did Lukas Nmecha perform in Nottingham Forest vs Leeds

Nmecha started in the cup clash with Forest and he showed the boss why he should stay put, rather than being sold.

The German had the joint-most touches in the opposition box with five, and the most shots with three, per Fotmob data.

He also created one chance for his teammates, drew three fouls from the opposition and made four passes into the final third.

Defensively, the back-up attacker managed one clearance and six recoveries, showing that he is willing to get back and help out.

Perhaps the most impressive aspect of his showing was the fact that he won all four ground duels that he attempted, for a 100 per cent success rate.

Why Nmecha must stick around at Leeds

Nmecha has proven that he can be a solid back-up behind Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

His showing against a Premier League rival means that the Peacocks should not be in a rush to see him leave.

No one is suggesting that he will replace Calvert-Lewin as a starter in the number nine role, but for a bench or rotation option, they could do much worse.

The numbers show what he can offer Farke, and he should not be desperate to get rid of his compatriot.

He is entering the final year of his contract, so if he is not offered a new one, he will leave for nothing next summer, but that may be the best outcome.

So far, the Yorkshire side have not brought in another striker, so getting rid of the former Wolfsburg man does not make sense at the moment.
