Lucas Perri's miserable time at Leeds United looks set to come to an end for now.

The Brazilian's future has been up in the air all summer, as has the Whites' goalkeeper situation.

They let Illan Meslier leave for free, and also lost Karl Darlow to Manchester United at the end of his deal.

They had been chasing James Trafford for a long time, and finally secured his signature on Thursday in a £40million deal.

That frees up Perri, who joined last summer for £15.6m and made 16 Premier League appearances before he was dropped, to leave Elland Road.

The situation seems to be moving quickly after a new update emerged from Italy about Torino's pursuit.

Lucas Perri expected in Italy this weekend as Leeds exit moves closer

Perri's temporary departure looks like a formality at this point, with the Turin-based side desperate for his services.

A report from Torino Granata on Friday claims that Perri is expected in Italy this weekend.

It states that it will finalised in the coming days with a medical, contract signings and the announcement.

It is understood that the deal will be a loan, with the option to purchase for £9.4million, which could be reduced by bonuses.

He is set to link up with the Maroons' squad next week and they want to have the Peacocks stopper available for the Coppa Italia clash with Carrarese on 15 August, according to the outlet.

Why Torino are so excited about signing Lucas Perri from Leeds United

Where did it all go wrong for Perri at Leeds?

Perri was signed with high expectations last summer after Meslier's high-profile errors in the promotion season, with a near £15m price tag from Lyon.

However, his switch to the Premier League outfit did not go to plan, as he was inconsistent between the sticks, could not command his area well and his passing was poor.

He was eventually replaced by Darlow, and was restricted to four FA Cup matches and could not force his way back into the number one spot.

Trafford is a huge upgrade for the LS11 side and they are after another backup, which means there is little space for the Sao Paulo product.

The move makes sense for all parties, especially if Daniel Farke's side can recoup the majority of the fee that they paid back.
