Leeds United won’t sell Summerville amid advanced Hamburg talks

Leeds United will not allow Crysencio Summerville to leave on a permanent basis before the end of the month, according to LeedsLive.

HSV1887tv reported via their Facebook account on 25 January that Hamburg SV are in advanced talks to sign Summerville, 20, in a loan-to-buy deal from Leeds.

LeedsLive reports that Hamburg are among a number of European clubs keen on signing the Dutch winger but there’s a “roadblock” in the way.

It is understood that the Whites are keen to keep hold of Summerville for the rest of the season but talks are ongoing between the player and his representatives over a loan.

Approaches have reportedly been made for the ex-Feyenoord winger but Leeds reportedly indicate that a deal is “unlikely”.

Days away from deadline

Summerville may want the game-time and could be keener on leaving Leeds on loan than Leeds are on loaning him out.

It’s good to hear that Leeds are not willing to sell Summerville.

You cannot blame Hamburg for trying to insert a permanent option in their loan offer for Summerville. But it looks as though they’re barking up the wrong tree there.

We’re all excited to see Summerville develop.

Noel Whelan, speaking to Football Insider in August 2021, called the Dutch Under-21 international a “brilliant” and “electric” winger.

He’s played eight times for our senior side but his minutes have dropped lately and hasn’t been in either of Marcelo Bielsa’s last two Premier League squads.

If we’re overlooking him now and Daniel James is being played out of position, then there are enough wide options to be able to loan Summerville out.

If it keeps him happy and gets him some senior game-time, we’re all for a straight loan deal.

In other Leeds United news, Fabrizio Romano says the Whites are “obsessed” with getting a deal done for this player before the deadline next week.
