Leeds United ‘to sign Everton star’ who is one of the best in Europe

Leeds United are set for a busy transfer window as they look to give themselves a chance at Premier League survival.

Daniel Farke has taken the Whites back to the promised land, but that is only half of his task; he now has to keep them there.

To achieve this, the German is planning on bringing in experienced top-flight stars to bolster his Elland Road squad for the tough campaign ahead.

Mali international tips Leeds to make Doucoure move

Abdoulaye Doucoure is expected to leave Everton on a free transfer, and the Whites could snap him up.

Former Mali international Mahamadou N’Diaye believes that the 32-year-old would be a great fit in LS11 and labelled him as one of Europe’s best midfielders.

Speaking to Africa Foot (19 May), he said: “Doucouré is a top player who can continue his career in the Premier League with another club. Physically, still performing well and is one of the best in his position in Europe, a player who has a healthy lifestyle.

“He knows the Premier League well. He’s one of the most experienced players in the league. So, he could be a great addition to Leeds United. It all depends on the club’s interest and his desire to stay in England.”

Leeds would boost survival chances with Doucoure signing

Doucoure coming through the doors in West Yorkshire would be a major boost to the Peacocks’ survival chances.

He is an experienced top-flight attacking midfielder, with over 270 appearances in the division and he also has a knack for goals in the biggest moments.

His biggest goal for the Toffees was on the final day of the 2022/23 season when his strike stopped them from being relegated to the Championship, and he could have a similar impact for Farke’s side.

Their current starter in the number ten role is Brenden Aaronson and the American often frustrates with inconsistent performances and is unproven at the elite level, notching just one goal and three assists in 36 appearances.

At the very least, Doucoure would offer another option, if the move works out, they would have a starter in the position for the next couple of seasons.

His wages may be an issue, but the lack of a transfer fee would soften that blow and allow the Whites to strengthen in other areas.

The rebuild is a huge task, but signing the Goodison ace would be a sensible start to business for the 49ers Enterprises group ahead of a daunting summer that will define the season.
