Leeds United are in the market for a back-up option for Gabriel Gudmundsson if previous reports are to be believed.

The Whites have been linked with multiple names for that position, including the Swede's international teammate Daniel Svensson.

However, the price of that deal will likely, and should, put the Elland Road side off.

But there could be another option in the market for Daniel Farke amid Zaidu Sanusi's situation at Porto.

The Nigerian has emerged previously as a target for the Whites, and that interest could return.

Reports out of Portugal could entice Leeds even more of approaching as they await the outcome of upcoming discussions at Porto.

What is the latest on Zaidu Sanusi's future?

With Sanusi's contract expiring in 2027, FC Porto are faced with a decision over his future.

The Portuguese side are looking to tie the Nigerian down to new terms, with reports out of Portugal suggesting that could happen soon.

According to CM Journal, the two parties "will soon sit down to discuss renewing the contract".

The outlet also shares that Sanusi has attracted "interest from several English clubs", and while Leeds have not been named, previous reports would suggest the Whites are in the mix.

If that is to be the case, the Elland Road will certainty be keeping an eye on the developments out of Porto.

If Sanusi does not extend his terms, the Whites could land themselves a back-up option to Gudmundsson at a cut-price.

At 29 years old, and with one year remaining, Porto would not have much room to negotiate a high fee.

Additionally, they will likely look to bring in some funds from his sale rather than lose him on a free transfer in the following transfer window.

How much is Sanusi currently worth?

When it comes to the fees that Leeds United could pay, the price would likely be minimal.

According to Transfermarkt, the full-back's latest valuation has been set at £2.5million.

At that price, it would be a no-brainer transfer for the Whites as they look to increase the quality across their whole squad.

Sanusi is an experienced option, having played at a high level in Portugal since 2020. In that time, he has won two Portuguese league titles.

Gudmundsson's latest run of injuries highlight how important it is for Leeds to secure the left-back area.
