Leeds United have pushed the boat out to land Silva Mexes from Manchester United.

The Whites signed Edward Ibrovic-Fletcher from the Red Devils in February, and it appears that the 16-year-old sensation will make the same move.

The Talent Hunter, who are known for their insights in academy football, broke the news that the Elland Road side were set to sign Mexes on 9 June.

He will slot into the Under-18 side at Thorp Arch, with opportunities to step up to Under-21 level.

Mexes is understood to have signed on a scholarship initially, however the Peacocks have plans in place to keep him around.

They have apparently already made a new promise about his future in LS11 to secure his talent.

What have Leeds promised to Silva Mexes?

Leeds are making a push to sign some of the most promising young talents in the country, and that is set to continue with the Old Trafford gem.

A report from the Manchester Evening News on 11 June confirms that Mexes is set to move to the Yorkshire club.

It states that there has been suggestions that the Peacocks have made a "promise" to give him a professional contract when he turns 17.

Why Leeds need to be careful with Mexes signing

Leeds need to keep trying to add the best youngsters that they can get, as the more that they have, the more chance one becomes a star.

They have signed the likes of Ibrovic-Fletcher, Jayden Lienou and Leonard Ngenge recently, proving their commitment to improving the academy.

The 49ers Enterprises could save a lot of money if they can bring several talents into the first-team, rather than having to look to the transfer market.

Daniel Farke now needs to make sure that Mexes and other youngsters have chances to make it into the senior set-up, rather than not getting the opportunities to succeed.

Otherwise, what is the point in the Whites making these types of signings, just to move them on a couple of years later, there is no point if they do not see the pathway.

The fact that they have been willing to join, though, suggests that one has been outlined to them, it is just whether Leeds can stick to it or not.
