Leeds United have signed at least one new youngster, deal not yet announced

Leeds United have signed “at least” one new young player to add to the squad but are yet to announce the deal, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Leeds have already confirmed the addition of Amari Miller to the Under-23s squad at Thorp Arch but it seems Victor Orta has been busy recruiting other young players.

However, the YEP reports that Leeds do not feel as though it’s helpful to raise the profile of young players at such an early stage so their additions at that level could be announced in bulk at the end of the transfer window.

Busy summer

We’ve already signed three players that we know of this summer: Miller, Jack Harrison and Junior Firpo.

However, it seems as though we have already made signing number four and potentially even more based on Graham Smyth’s words on the YEP website.

We’re not certain on the identity of said player (or players) but there’s a chance Sean McGurk will officially arrive from Wigan before the end of the summer transfer window.

It has been widely reported that the 18-year-old attacking midfielder is heading towards a move to Leeds after his contract at Wigan expired.

According to The Mirror, McGurk has already agreed personal terms with the West Yorkshire club and Leeds are in talks with Wigan over how much compensation will be paid.

He’s a player who’s been linked with the Whites in each of the last two transfer windows so Orta has very clearly taken a liking to the young midfielder. It’d be a shock if he doesn’t have his move to Elland Road rubber-stamped.

It’s been almost a month sign the Daily Mail reported that young Bradford goalkeeper Darryl Ombang is close to signing for Leeds.

He could be another.

It’s interesting the club were fine with announcing Miller’s signing from Birmingham but not other deals.

Either way, we’re ok with it and it does make sense.

In other Leeds United news, Ezgjan Alioski could remarkably still stay at Elland Road despite an official goodbye from the club.
