Leeds finalise season-long loan exit for Sam Chambers

Leeds United have sent highly-rated midfielder Sam Chambers out on loan to the EFL.

The 19-year-old has been with Leeds for a number of years, and signed his first professional contract in March 2024.

Since then, he's been turning heads at Thorp Arch for his academy performances.

Chambers made his Leeds first-team debut in a 3-0 Championship win over Plymouth Argyle on 2 November 2024.

He's only been able to add one further competitive first-team appearance to his name since then, however.

Already on the cusp of the first-team at Elland Road, Chambers looks ready to get a season of senior football under his belt this term.

Academy football can only teach a player so much, but there's no greater education for a youngster than getting a taste of senior football.

That's exactly what Leeds have commissioned for Chambers too.

Confirmed via Leeds' official academy X page on Tuesday afternoon, the teenager has joined Northampton Town on a season-long loan.

It can also be equally as valuable for a young player to experience a challenging loan spell as it is a fruitful one.

Northampton look likely to provide Chambers with a real challenge this season, after they were relegated from League One last term.

The Cobblers haven't made a great start to their 2026-27 campaign in League Two either, with no wins from their first three games.

Chris Hogg's side do play Crawley Town at home in a 7:45pm kick-off this evening, so it remains to be seen whether Chambers was registered in time to make his debut tonight.
