Lassine Sinayoko is one of the many forwards linked with Leeds United, but he may be the most interesting one.

As the Whites gear up for the forthcoming season, one thing will be on Daniel Farke's mind - going one step further than last.

The arrival of new additions is one way to make that step, and based on reports an added name in the attack is on the agenda.

Striker Joel Piroe is likely to depart, and Sinayoko could step in to fill that void.

Emerging from Ligue 1, many of the Elland Road faithful may not know much about the Malian international.

However, quotes from his Auxerre manager open the door into what could be expected if a transfer is realised.

The likely reason Leeds United have shortlisted Lassine Sinayoko

Sinayoko may be a goalscorer, netting 12 goals and picking up four assists for Auxerre in Ligue 1 last season.

However, the 26-year-old offers far more than just his output.

Auxerre manager Cristophe Plessier detailed the type of player that Sinayoko is and that could point to what Farke is looking for in an additional forward.

He stated in an article shared by Ligue 1: "You understand why I insisted on him staying last summer and also why he is the first name on the team sheet.

"I discovered him when I arrived, and I have always appreciated his selflessness and his mindset. He is one of the best forwards in Ligue 1 McDonald's, and he is a key player for us."

However, while Plessier's praise is high, it is the "selflessness" part that sticks out, as Sinayoko differs greatly from Dominic Calvert-Lewin in that regard.

Despite being a centre-forward, the Mali international likes to drop deep to collect and interlink the play

In contrast, Calvert-Lewin is more of a fox-in-the-box type striker who thrives on his excellent movement.

In games where Leeds are struggling to break down a team and fail to create spaces, the addition of Sinayoko could be the solution to open up the game.

Where would Sinayoko play for Leeds?

While routinely a centre-forward, the Mali forward is also capable of playing out on the wing, as he featured 10 times on the right side and five on the left in the last Ligue 1 campaign.

That versatility will also be a reason behind the interest.

According to Sofascore, the attacker loves to get involved in play, as highlighted by his average of 7.62 duels competed per game, in which he wins 52 per cent.

So, no matter where he fits into Leeds' mould, whether as a wide forward or central option, Sinayoko will likely be able to deal with the physicality that the Premier League offers.
