Joel Piroe milestone has only strengthened one Leeds United transfer argument
Leeds United have a decision to make surrounding the future of Joel Piroe.
The 27-year-old was a true star at Elland Road as he helped the Whites to promotion via the Championship title.
He picked up the golden boot in the process and looked set to feature heavily in his debut Premier League campaign.
That didn't turn out to be the case as the Suriname international was afforded just 246 minutes of action.
The forward scored one goal all season and is now featuring for the LS11 outfit in pre-season once again.
A question continues to hang over Piroe's future, especially now.
Why Leeds United have clear next step for Joel Piroe
There is certainly a need for squad depth in the Premier League, as last season has proven.
The issue for the ex-Swansea man is that Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha are ahead of him in the pecking order.
That has seen his minutes limited as his future remains totally uncertain.
The situation has been made worse knowing that his contract expires next summer, giving Leeds an ultimatum.
They could now see their hand forced as Piroe celebrates his 27th birthday on Sunday.
The striker isn't getting any younger and will be available on a free transfer in less than 12 months.
Leeds would be wise to open the exit door and bring some sort of fee in for Piroe while they can.
What could be Piroe's next move
It feels wise for Daniel Farke and Co. to at least secure a small income for the attacker this summer.
He hasn't been short of potential exit routes and it could be an ideal chance to utilise one of those.
MOT Leeds News previously covered Piroe and interest from Rangers in recent months.
There will likely be several other interested parties, especially for a striker who has been electric at Championship level.
If Leeds can now arrange a move, even if it is his birthday, it may prove to be the best case scenario for all parties.
