Joe Rodon wants Leeds United return as transfer update emerges at Elland Road
Joe Rodon considers Leeds United his priority transfer destination this summer following a season-long loan at Elland Road, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
The newspaper reported via its website [26 June] that the Tottenham defender is keen on reuniting with the Whites this summer and the move could be helped out by Leeds technical director Gretar Steinsson.
Steinsson was previously a performance director with Spurs before arriving at Elland Road, and it is understood that he could have a vital say in the transfer due to his experience at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Joe Rodon chooses Leeds United future following Elland Road spell
Rodon was an extremely important player for Daniel Farke last term, amassing 50 appearances for the Whites in a single season as they narrowly missed out on promotion.
Considering his impact on loan, it is vital that Leeds work out a deal to bring him back to Elland Road as they look to secure promotion back to the Premier League at the second time of asking.
Without the return of Rodon, Farke is likely to start a centre-back partnership with Ethan Ampadu and Pascal Struijk, which has been relatively untested so far.
Liam Cooper’s future is still up in the air after Scotland were knocked out of the Euro 2024 group stages in Germany, with the defender yet to put pen to paper on a new deal.
While Spurs have chosen to exercise the one-year extension in the 26-year-old’s contract, it is understood that this is only the club protecting its asset, having signed the defender from Swansea City for £11million [BBC Sport].

Leeds must still repay unpaid transfer fees this summer, which makes multi-million pound deals much harder at Elland Road, but this move should not be an optional one for the Whites.
Rodon could certainly be the difference between promotion and another season stuck in the Championship next season.
